About us
The Idea
Ian Fredericks, a keen boat enthusiast, has developed the first UK internet auction site Ribs.auction that is solely dedicated to buying and selling RIBs and Outboards.
The idea was conceived during a number of frustrating experiences, that whilst searching existing auction sites any searches always seemed to be full of non-RIB related items and that that the process of buying an expensive RIB or engine did not feel a very secure way of purchasing.
Ian felt there was better way of doing things and as such Ribs.auction was born ! Following on from ribs.auction, sportsboats.auction was added as an auction platform in Spring 2025.

The Websites
The sites, ribs.auction and sportsboats.auction, have been designed as a platform where anyone interested in RIBS or sports boats can sell or purchase an item quickly and easily.

At ribs.auction, auctions are held on a monthly basis and items can be listed any time in the lead up to the next auction.

At sportboats.auction, you will find that ietms can be listed at anytime and bid upon at any time, much like the world's largest auction site eBay.
Any items being listed which do not comply with the categories laid down will be removed.
Niche Auctions has utilised the Auction-Pro platform, which is an industry leading specialist platform for online auctions and uses their established web auction and payment system to manage the process.
Trade Sellers & Manufacturers
For the trade customer there is the advantage over other auction sites in that it allows all trade customers that register with ribs.auction and spoprtsboats.auction to list their entire stock at no cost.
Also, Manufacturers or Trade sellers dealing with selling new ribs and sports boats can use the sites for selling boats that they may have taken in part exchange and they do not wish to list on their website.
The Design
Ian believes that the tablet and mobile friendly design of the websites, will make the selling and buying of boats through their auction platforms a pleasant, easy and secure experience.
